原文：

Magna Carta - the Great Charter

John, by the grace of God, King of England, Lord of Ireland, Duke

of Normandy and Aquitaine, and Count of Anjou, to the

archbishops, bishops, abbots, earls, barons, justiciaries, foresters,

sheriffs, stewards, servants, and to all his bailiffs and faithful

subjects, greeting.

Know that we, out of the reverence for God and the salvation of

our soul and the souls of all our ancestors and heirs, for the honour

of God and the exaltation of holy Church and the reform of our

realm, on the advice of our venerable father, Stephen, archbishop

of Canterbury, primate of all England and cardinal of the holy

Roman Church, of the bishops and other servants of God whom we

have called together for this purpose, have granted to God and to

the holy Church, and by this our present charter have confirmed for

evermore, that the Church of England shall be free, and shall have

all her whole rights and liberties inviolable.
