一、demonstrate、show、indicate在论文写作中主要用法是：demonstrate/show/indicate +从句：
Sb./Sth. demonstrates/shows/indicates that ……从句中一般表达事实、观点和结论等。
例句：
The authors demonstrated/showed/indicated that their proposed algorithm has considerable advantages in terms of complexity of time and space over existing algorithms.。（作者展示（表明）了他们提出的算法在时空复杂度方面比现有算法有明显优势。）
Experimental results demonstrated/showed/indicated that the new AI product ChatGPT is indistinguishable from the human beings.（实验结果表明新的AI ChatGPT与人不可区分。）
注意demonstrate、show、indicate可以表达比较广泛的汉语意思，例如：指出、得出、给出、证实/证明、说明、表明……，也就是一些与观点、事实、结论有关的表达都可以使用。例如：
“他们指出输入输出功率并不总是线性相关的。”可以写为：
They demonstrated/showed/indicated that input power and output power are not always linearly correlated.
我们在以前的文章中曾指出，“指出”可以用observe表达，其实也可以有其他表达包括demonstrate 、show、indicate 等，总之论文中用point out是不合适的。
“发现”有时用demonstrate/show表达比直接用find要好，例如：
“研究发现端对端可靠传输比每一跳的可靠传输要简单有效得多。”可以写为：
Research demonstrated/showed/indicated that end to end reliable delivery is much simpler and more effective than that on every hop.
发现的东西总是要展示的，所以这样的表达是合理的。但是，如果是科学重大发现，还是用discover 比较好。
“得出结论”也可以用demonstrate/show表达，例如：
“通过分析得出以下结论：他们的协议在这种情况下不提供抗DGA的安全性。”可以写为：
Analysis demonstrated/showed that their protocol fails to provide DGA resistant security in such a scenario.
这句用conclude是不合适的，conclude一般是从文章中的一段论述得出结论，而不是从文中提到的“分析”得到结论。
二、虽然illustrate也可用于上面的例句，但它更多用于“图示”，例如
As illustrated in Fig.9/Table 2……
show也可以用于“图示”：
We show the results in Fig.1.（我们将结果在图1表示出来。）
这方面比较简单，不再举例了。
