Growing up, I always knew that my family had a rich
history and background. My great-grandfather was none other
than the famous Chinese writer and thinker, Lu Xun. He was
born in 1881 in Shaoxing, China, and was known for his
revolutionary writings that criticized the Chinese
government and social norms of the time.
Lu Xun's family was not particularly wealthy, but they
were highly educated. His father was a government official
and his mother was a traditional Chinese woman who valued
education and culture. Lu Xun himself was a brilliant
student who excelled in his studies and eventually went on
to study medicine in Japan.
Despite his success in the medical field, Lu Xun's true
passion was writing. He wrote essays, short stories, and
novels that were widely read and admired in China and
around the world. His most famous works include "The True
Story of Ah Q" and "Diary of a Madman."
Growing up with such a famous ancestor was both a
blessing and a burden. On one hand, I was proud of my
family's legacy and the impact that Lu Xun had on Chinese
literature and society. On the other hand, I felt a sense
of pressure to live up to his name and make my own mark in
the world.
