“The springs (泉水) are a part of our life,” says a 60yearold man in Jinan. His

family usually uses spring water to cook and make tea.

There are many springs in Jinan such as Fairy Spring, Black Tiger Spring, Agate Spring and

Lute Spring. Fairy Spring's name comes from a folk tale (民间传说). It was said that nine fairies

(仙女) bathed in the spring and loved it so much that they were reluctant to leave. Black Tiger

Spring makes big sound when water flows (流动) past the tiger-head-shaped stones.

Of all these springs in Jinan, Baotu Spring is the most famous spring. It has a history of 3,

543 years. And it only takes people about 20 minutes to walk there from Qushuiting Street. Along

the road, we can see people selling bigbowl tea for about 2 yuan a cup. We can also see people

playing chess and chatting near the Baotu Spring Park.

A worker says, “The springs are nature's gift to Jinan. They not only provide clean water for

us, but also water the beautiful plants around them. We hope more people can come here and

enjoy them.”

(C) can we learn from the old man's words?

A.Drinking springs is good for old people's health.
