一 When in Rome do as the Romans do
Recently,the report about whether visitors should imitate the local customs
and behaviors or not has immediately sparked a heated debate. Some people
claim that visitors to other countries should imitate the local customs and
behaviors. While other people hold the view that the host country should welcome
cultures different from their own. As for as I’m concerned,I prefer the first view.
As the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans are some points as
follows.
First of all,on the one hand,imitating the local customs and behaviors is a
wonderful way to show visitors’ respect to local people; On other hand,it’s also
the best way to gain the hospitality and friendship from locals. Second,it is
universally acknowledge that the main reason why people travel is,perhaps,for
pleasure and learning some local culture that they cannot find it elsewhere.
Therefor, imitating the local customs and behaviors not only can relax and make
the visitor’s traveling become more freshness and excitement but also at the
same time can broaden they knowledge circles and expand the vision. Next, on the
negative side,if host country welcome cultures different from their own,
sometimes it is a quick method that the expense of part of culture. Food, festivals,
costumes and other stimulating elements of a culture are highlighted to entertain
tourists, which maybe will constitute an insult to the locals and causing damage
to the unique nature of a culture. Last but not least, when a historic site or a site
that shows a country's cultural heritage is made accessible to the public, visitors
from all over the world will soon flock there. They will share their experience in the
local culture with their friends and families once they return home, assisting this
site to gain international fame. Both financial and technological support will flood
in for the conservation of natural and cultural resources. There is no doubt that it is
the best way of human cultural transmission and inheritance. What is more,as we
all know,in the light of facts, it can conclude that tourism is neither a boon nor a
bane to cultural preservation. While imitating the local customs and behaviors will
endeavor to protect an indigenous culture,which can put the integrity of a culture
at risk.
All in all, from all above reasons it’s easy to see that imitating the local
customs and behaviors is very important for travels.
二The Main Causes of Africa’s Poverty Problem
The remark "the only good news story is a bad news story" is sometimes
quoted by cynical journalists. Positive stories don't make interesting news, they say.
And in Africa it often seems it is only the wars, droughts and diseases which are
reported. To be honest, as we all know, Africa is best with poverty and a series of

concerned, the main factors contribute to the current status of Africa,ranging from
geographical,climatic,social to political reasons and so on. There are some points
as follows.
First of all,Africa is the world's second-largest and second most-populous
continent after Asia. At about 30,221,532 km² including adjacent islands, it covers
