基桩分布式光纤测试规程 英文版

1. Objective:

The objective of this procedure is to accurately test and

assess the distribution of optical power along a fiber optic

cable.

2. Introduction:

Fiber optic cables are widely used for long-distance

communication and data transmission. It is essential to

ensure the quality of the optical signal throughout the cable

by conducting distributed testing. This procedure outlines

the steps and requirements for conducting such testing.

3. Equipment:

- Optical Power Meter: A device used to measure the

optical power at different points along the fiber optic cable.

- Reference Cable: A known good quality fiber optic cable

used as a reference for testing.

- Launch Cable: A known length of fiber optic cable used

to launch the test signal.

- Connectors and Adapters: Required for connecting the

power meter to the fiber optic cable.

4. Procedure:

4.1. Prepare the test setup:

4.1.1. Connect the launch cable to the power meter using

appropriate connectors and adapters.

4.1.2. Connect the reference cable to the power meter

using appropriate connectors and adapters.

4.1.3. Set the power meter to the desired measurement

unit (dBm, mW, etc.).

4.2. Calibration:

4.2.1. Connect the launch cable to the power meter and

set the power meter to zero reference.

4.2.2. Disconnect the launch cable and connect the

reference cable to the power meter. Verify that the power

meter readings match the known power levels of the reference

cable.

4.3. Testing:

4.3.1. Connect the launch cable to the power meter.

4.3.2. Connect one end of the fiber optic cable to be

tested to the launch cable and the other end to the reference

cable.

4.3.3. Record the power meter readings at regular

intervals along the fiber optic cable.

4.3.4. Repeat the testing for multiple fiber optic cables

if required.

4.4. Analysis:

4.4.1. Plot a graph of power (dBm) versus distance

(meters) for each fiber optic cable tested.

4.4.2. Analyze the power distribution along the cable and

identify any significant variations or losses.

4.4.3. Compare the power distribution of the tested

cables to the reference cable to assess the quality and

performance.

5. Safety Precautions:

- Handle fiber optic cables with care to prevent breakage

or damage.

- Use appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves

and safety glasses, when working with fiber optics.

- Make sure all equipment is properly grounded to prevent

electric shock.

Note: This is a general outline of the procedure. The

specific details may vary depending on the equipment and

testing requirements. It is important to refer to the

equipment manufacturer's instructions and industry standards

for conducting accurate distributed fiber optic testing.
