关于父母生活习惯的英语作文初一

My Parents' Daily Routines

My parents have been married for over 20 years, and even

though I'm just a kid, I've noticed they have some pretty

interesting habits and routines. I guess you could say they're set

in their ways! But I don't mean that in a bad way – their routines

and lifestyles seem to work well for them.

Let me start by telling you about my dad's typical day. He's

an early riser, always up before 6am. The first thing he does is put

on his running shoes and go for a 5-mile jog around the

neighborhood. Rain or shine, hot or cold, he's out there

pounding the pavement. I don't know how he does it! When he

gets back, he stretches for a little while and then hops in the

shower.

After he's all cleaned up, Dad heads to the kitchen for his

daily dose of coffee and breakfast. He's a creature of habit when

it comes to his morning meals – it's always the same thing: 2

pieces of whole wheat toast, 2 eggs, and a banana. Occasionally

he'll switch it up by adding a grapefruit, but that's about as wild

as he gets with breakfast.

Once he's fueled up, Dad's out the door and off to work at

his office downtown. He's an accountant, and tax season is

always crazy for him. But the rest of the year, he keeps pretty

normal 9-to-5 hours. When he gets home in the evening, his

routine is to change into comfortable clothes – usually an old

t-shirt and athletic shorts – and then head outside to work in the

yard or do chores around the house. Dad's really big on home

maintenance and he takes a lot of pride in keeping our place

looking nice.

After putting in an hour or two of yard work, he'll come

inside, plop himself down on the couch, and watch the news or

whatever game happens to be on TV that night. That's prime

dad-napping time! You can pretty much set your watch by him

dozing off on the couch between 7 and 8pm. Eventually, Mom

will wake him up so we can have dinner together as a family.

Now let me tell you about my mom's daily rituals. Unlike Dad,

she's more of a night owl and has a hard time getting going in

the mornings. She's a high school English teacher, so her day

starts a little later. She's usually up by 7:30am after hitting the

snooze button a few times! The first thing she does is make

herself a giant mug of coffee – she can't start her day without it.

While sipping her coffee, Mom will sit and read for 30

minutes or so. She's a total bookworm and always has a novel or

two going at the same time. Once she's caffeinated and has had

her reading time, she'll take a quick shower and get dressed for

work.

Unlike Dad's morning routine, Mom's breakfast isn't so

regimented. Some days it's oatmeal with fruit, other days she'll

make herself an egg sandwich or just grab a granola bar on her

way out the door. It really just depends on how rushed she's

feeling.

After getting out of the house, Mom fights traffic to get to

the high school where she teaches. Her work day is pretty

intense – not only does she have to teach four or five classes

back-to-back, but she also has office hours, piles of papers to

grade, and endless emails and documentation to deal with. By

the time she gets home around 4pm, she's absolutely drained.

But she still has a few hours until dinner, so she'll try to

rejuvenate herself a bit.

Mom's after-work ritual is to come home, change into comfy

clothes, pour herself a glass of wine, and veg out in front of the

TV or read for an hour. She says it's her way to unwind and

transition from "work mode" to "home mode." Once Dad gets

home and fits in some yard work, they'll reconvene in the kitchen

to start cooking dinner.

My parents actually really enjoy cooking together in the

evenings – it's like their bonding time. They'll put on some music,

pour another glass of wine, and get to work in the kitchen

preparing a meal. Dad's in charge of main dishes while Mom

focuses on sides and salads. They make a pretty good team! We

all sit down for a family dinner together around 7:30 or 8pm.

After dinner, Mom and Dad have slightly different evening

routines. Mom likes to clean up from dinner right away, then

take a relaxing bath and get herself organized for the next day.

She's usually in bed by 10pm reading for at least an hour before

going to sleep. Dad, on the other hand, is more of a night owl

like I mentioned before. He'll watch TV or read the newspaper

until 11pm or midnight before finally calling it a night.

On the weekends, their schedules certainly shift a bit. They

get to sleep in (wahoo!) and spend a lot more time puttering

around the house and running errands. Saturdays usually involve

cleaning, laundry, yard work, and hitting the grocery store and

other shops. Sundays are a little more low-key – Mom and Dad

will take a longer walk or bike ride in the morning, Dad will watch

his sports, and we'll either grill something on the patio for dinner

or go out to a restaurant.

So as you can see, my parents have developed some pretty

consistent daily habits and patterns over the years that work well

for them. They both have little routines and rituals that they stick

to rigidly during the week to make their lives run smoothly. And

on the weekends, they have more flexibility to veg out and

recharge. Of course, they're always willing to shake things up if

we have a special family occasion or event. But for the most part,

their lifestyles are pretty scheduled and predictable. Personally, I

think it fits their personalities really well – they're both creatures

of habit through and through!
