Helping My Parents at Home

Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. Today I

want to tell you all about the chores I do at home to help my

mom and dad. I know, hores can be kind of boring and

not super fun. But I actually really like pitching in around the

house. It makes me feel so helpful and grown up!

Plus, my parents always tell me how much they appreciate

my hard work. That makes me feel proud of myself. When my

mom smiles and says "Thank you for cleaning up your room,

Jamie. You're such a big helper!" it makes my heart feel warm

and fuzzy inside.

Okay, let me give you the full scoop on all the chores I do.

First up, I always make sure to tidy my bedroom. I put away any

toys, books or clothes that are lying around on the floor. I make

my bed nice and neat with the covers pulled up tight. Sometimes

I even remember to fluff up my pillows! Having a clean,

organized room makes me feel so calm and happy.

Next, I help my mom out in the kitchen a lot. Every morning,

I set the table for breakfast while she cooks. I make sure each

person has a plate, cup, fork and napkin at their spot. After we

eat, I clear all the dirty dishes and bring them to the sink. I'm

getting really good at carefully carrying a big stack! My parents

call me a "dish champion."

For lunch and dinner, I love lending a hand too. Sometimes I

help my dad prepare the food by rinsing veggies, mixing

ingredients together or fetching things from the pantry. My

favorite is when we make pizza from scratch at home! I get to

knead the dough and then load up the pizza with all my favorite

toppings. Mmm, so delicious!

After dinner, you can find me at the sink working hard. My

dad washes the dishes and I dry them and put them away in the

cabinets. My little arms get a workout lifting those big platters

and bowls! It takes some serious concentration to make sure

everything gets put back in just the right spot. I always feel so

accomplished when the kitchen is all clean and sparkling again.

On weekends, my chores kick into high gear. Saturday is

vacuuming day! I start in my room, then work my way into the

hallways, living room and anywhere else that needs it.

Sometimes I even do a little dancing as I push that heavy vacuum
