My Volunteer Plan

Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I really love

helping others and trying to make the world a better place.

That's why I've decided to start my very own volunteer project!

You might be wondering - what exactly is a volunteer? Well,

a volunteer is someone who chooses to help people or do jobs

for free, without getting paid. Volunteers are awesome because

they make their communities nicer places to live just by being

kind and generous with their time.

There are lots of different ways to volunteer. Some people

volunteer by visiting sick kids in hospitals to cheer them up and

keep them company. Others might volunteer at an animal shelter,

helping to feed the cats and dogs and give them love and

playtime. You can even volunteer outdoors by joining a park or

beach clean-up crew!

For my volunteer project, I've decided to focus on two main

things that I really care about - the environment and older adults.

First, I want to help protect the planet we live on by doing

activities that are good for the environment. Second, I want to

spend time with elderly people and brighten their days. Let me

tell you more about my big plan!

Part 1: Helping the Environment

We all need to take care of the beautiful Earth that we live on.

If we're not careful, things like pollution, plastic waste, and

deforestation could make it a really yucky place in the future.

That's no good at all! As a student volunteer, here are some of

the environment-focused activities I'd like to do:

Organize litter clean-ups in my neighborhood and local

parks. Picking up trash helps keep green spaces clean and

prevents pollution.

Start a recycling program at my school if we don't have one

already. Recycling paper, plastic, glass and metal means using

less new resources from the planet.

Plant trees! Trees are amazing because they provide oxygen

for us to breathe and homes for wildlife. I'll get a group together

to plant new trees around town.
