Why It's Good to Give Suggestions to Our Parents

My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I love my parents a

whole lot, but sometimes I think they could use a little advice

from me! Adults might think kids don't know much, but us kids

actually notice lots of things that grown-ups miss. That's why I

think it's important for children to speak up and make

suggestions to their parents every now and then.

Here are some of the main reasons why I believe giving

suggestions to our parents is a good idea:

We See Things Differently

Kids and adults often have very different perspectives on the

world. We're a lot shorter than grown-ups, so we literally see

things from a lower angle. But we also think about things in

simpler ways sometimes. Grown-ups can get stuck in their ways

of thinking, but kids still have fresh minds.

For example, maybe your dad is struggling to hook up the

new TV, getting all frustrated and consulting a million instruction

manuals. You might just suggest, "Why don't you ask Alexa for

help?" And bam - problem solved! Us kids are often the first to

think of easy tech solutions that adults overlook.

We Notice Little Things They Miss

Parents are super busy with work, chores, errands, and all the

things they have to do to keep the household running. With so

much on their plates, they can sometimes miss small details that

kids are more tuned in to.

Like maybe your mom always burns the grilled cheese

sandwiches because she forgets about them while doing other

tasks. You could suggest, "Why don't you set a timer for the

sandwiches so you don't burn them?" Parents may not realize

these little tweaks that could make life easier until we point them

out.

We Have Fresh Ideas

Parents tend to get stuck in routines and habits. But children,

with our creative and uncluttered minds, can come up with

innovative ideas that our parents haven't thought of.
